Exhibited in annual local juried show as part of Art Hop in Burlington, VT. My designs are influenced by the Japanese weaving movement, Saori which encourages the practice of free weaving to inspire individuality. I began weaving on a 4-harness loom to develop and create unique raw materials, weaving over 40 feet of fabric. The process is just like that of a painter or a poet. It is expressive and evolving and only restricted or restrained by the time, tools, and materials. The wearable designs evolve from the process and are directly connected to the activity. Textures emerge and shape becomes wearable art. Recycled clothing and repurposed yarn integrate conservation and renewal into a sustainable process.
